FoodCheck is a private food decision product. This policy explains what the app processes, why that processing happens, and how RahatLabs approaches trust, storage, and support.

What FoodCheck does

FoodCheck helps users scan packaged food labels, extract ingredient text, interpret dietary concerns, and view structured explanations that support personal food decisions.

Information we process

  • Images captured or selected by the user for label scanning.
  • Extracted text from those images.
  • Structured ingredient and dietary analysis results.
  • Local app preferences such as language and dietary lens.
  • Local scan history saved on the user’s device.

How the information is used

  • To extract text from food packaging through OCR.
  • To generate plain-language ingredient explanations.
  • To improve the usefulness of scan results for the user’s active dietary lens.
  • To store personal scan history locally for continuity and recall.

Third-party services

FoodCheck uses server-side integrations with Google Cloud Vision API and Google Gemini API to process scans and generate structured explanations. Sensitive provider keys are stored only in the backend environment and are not embedded in the mobile app binary.

Data storage

User preferences and scan history are primarily stored locally on the user’s device. Images and scan payloads sent to backend services are processed to fulfill scan requests. We aim to keep server-side processing minimal and limited to what is needed for app functionality.

Data sharing

We do not sell user personal data. Data may be shared with service providers only to the extent needed to perform OCR, language generation, hosting, and app support functions.

Children’s privacy

FoodCheck is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
